I took a trip to Bali from December 11th, 2005 until January 8th, 2006 with two of my buddies from Peace Corps Palau. Jullian Lee and Jason Kramberg and I flew in together and we ended up meeting another friend of ours, Jonathan, who had spent time as a PCV in Palau as well. Jullian stayed until Christmas day, Jason until the 29th, and Jonathan until the 6th. We spent time in Ubud a town in the south central hills where we became completely enthralled with the Balinese culture. Then we rented a car with Jonathan who had his International Drivers License and toured around the north and eastern parts of the island. We ended up that week in the south before going up to Gunung Batur (volcano) and returning to Ubud. We promply headed down to Kuta to meet another friend and Indonesian, Arif, who we know from Palau. We spent one night with him before he and Jullian flew out. I spent some time in Seminyak with Jason and ended up meeting back with Jonathan before I went out to Nusa Lembongan for some diving and escape from the excitement and vehicles. I ended up back in Kuta for the last leg of my trip for shopping and to meet up with some Balinese friends of mine, one of which I also already knew from Palau. It was a fabulous month and although I was happy to get back to Palau, I do miss Balinese culture, beauty, and friendliness. I fell in love with Bali as so many others have, and I will go back again. Enjoy.
